Anaheim Community Hospital leader honored with national award

ANAHEIM...Courtney Jones, Director of Health Information Management and Privacy Officer at Anaheim Community Hospital, has been named one of Western Governors University’s 2026 Distinguished Graduates. She is one of just 14 honorees selected from hundreds of nominations across WGU’s alumni network of more than 425,000 graduates nationwide.

Jones’ recognition highlights her leadership in advancing patient safety, privacy protection, and operational excellence within Southern California’s healthcare system. The 2026 honorees exemplify WGU’s mission to expand access to education and deliver real-world career outcomes, demonstrating how flexible, skills-based learning can drive meaningful professional and community impact.

A two-time WGU graduate, Jones earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management in 2023 and her Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management in 2025. She also holds Registered Health Information Administrator and Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security credentials and lives in Costa Mesa.

With more than 15 years of experience in healthcare, Jones leads Anaheim Community Hospital’s Health Information Management department and serves as Privacy Officer, overseeing compliance, safeguarding patient information, and strengthening operational performance. She also spearheads the hospital’s Zero Suicide Initiative, enhancing suicide prevention protocols and patient support efforts.

Throughout her career, Jones has worked to optimize revenue cycle performance, elevate privacy standards, and mentor emerging healthcare professionals. She is an active member of the American Health Information Management Association, California Health Information Association, Phi Theta Kappa, and the National Society of Leadership and Success.

A proud third-generation Mexican American and first-generation college graduate, Jones is the first in her family to earn both a bachelor’s and master’s degree. Her journey reflects resilience, service, and a dedication to opening doors for future leaders, values embodied by WGU’s Distinguished Graduate Award.
