The outside front and back covers are actually an original painting of the beach and ocean in Huntington Beach by the author/artist, Dr. Gladys de Barcza. The pier, breaking surf, Catalina Island and an offshore oil rig form the backdrop for a bikini-clad sunbather on the backcover (above left). A little girl, lost in her world of sand-castle building, is on the front cover (above right).

Ecological Reserve This 300-acre coastal jewel must be saved as open breathing space for animals and humans. Wooden ramps cross the marshy water to make possible gazing at the wildlife and natural scenery. A waterfowl habitat with rain and groundwater ponds provides food and nesting areas for ducks and shore birds. Excellent views of undersea life include sea slugs the size of footballs, cruising stingrays and an occasional shark. Dr. de Barcza has not always lived in Huntington Beach. Gladys has been an art educator in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the Fiji Islands, not to mention New York City, Connecticut, Georgia, Pasadena, San Diego and of course- Huntington Beach.
