HUNTINGTON BEACH...This week we'll continue to get to know the people whose signs you may have seen on your neighborhood street corners that advertises an open house for sale or even who may have sold you your dream home in Huntington Beach.
Hollywood, that magical word that invokes dreams of stardom, a place where your favorite stars could be seen living in glamorous mansions.
MGM studio even coined their motto,"more stars than there are in heaven," and this week our real estate agent was born in Hollywood and in a way she too became a star, not in films, but in the sometimes glamorous business world of real estate.
Kimberley Austin's family left Hollywood for Arcadia, California where she would attend Arcadia High School before heading south to attend Golden West College here in Huntington Beach where she graduated with honors.
Austin come from a family of a mother and dad and three brothers.
But selling real estate at this time of her life was far into her future and at thst time she wanted to be a pilot and see the country from far above the horizon.
But that had to wait, her first job was more down to Earth as a clerk in a Pasadena drug store.
Like in a 1930s movie, a twist of fate brings a couple together and in Austin's case, it was a jury summons in the mail and yes she met her future husband on the same jury.
In 1992 the family moved to Huntington Beach to enjoy the beach life. Now with a son Christian, and two stepchildren, Dale and Amy.
She started her own corporation, a tanning salon, that she ran for 23 years and it was during this time that she became interested in becoming a real estate agent.
"I could not put into words when I made my first sale, it was just fabulous," Austin said.
For fun Austin like to walk and today belongs to a group called "Walk the Pounds Off," for the past 10 years.
She is a member of the Cinderella's, a Lady's Auxiliary of the Huntington Beach Elks Lodge #1959 where she was president for one year, a vice president for two years and a secretary for a number of years and she is a member of the Women's Business Connection.
The family also includes two other members with four paws each, their canine pals Wishbone and Star.
Their stepson Dale is in the real estate business and would not be surprised if other members of the family goes into the same business.
